Disneyland Resort, Paris

I love Disneyland! Who doesn’t, right? :-)

I have been to Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort and harboring hope that one day I will be able to visit Disneyland Resort in Paris! Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida is not bad but I do not find the idea of having fun under the hot Florida’s sun as fun. The weather there is a little too hot for me and this probably the reason why I’m more interested in visiting Paris’s Disneyland Resort in the near future.

Just like Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort, Paris’s Disneyland Resort is just as humongous! If we look at the map, Paris’s Disneyland Resort is divided into 5 big areas:
  • Disneyland Park – Fun! Fun! Fun!
  • Walt Disney Studios Park – Fun! Fun! Fun!
  • Disney Hotels
  • Disney Village
  • Golf Disneyland

I will try to cover Paris’s Disneyland Resort and its areas of attractions in details in future postings. In the meantime, take a look at the following videos and see just how much fun you could have over at Disneyland Resort Paris! :-)

Taj Mahal, Agra – The best photo spots

A visit to India is not complete without visiting Taj Mahal, a glorious mausoleum built out of sheer love located in Agra, India. There is no doubt that past Moghul emperors especially Maharaja Shah Jahan were great lovers, better than the western civilization who only could manage to write romantic stories such as Romeo & Juliet. :-)

I love Taj Mahal. The sheer scale of the mausoleum and its surrounding area is astronomical and absolutely breathtaking! Too bad Agra is a bit too hot for me, I would have made countless return trips to see Taj Mahal if the weather is kind to folks like me.

Anyhow… If you are wondering where and where are the best spots to take pictures and photos of Taj Mahal, the following map specially prepared for you folks out there should help you a lot. If you are wondering about the northernmost spot that I have provided, let me tell you that one time ago it was the favorite R&R spot for Maharaja Shah Jahan himself. He used to sit there gazing at the beauty of his creation while mourning over the loss of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. This is where the legend of the Black Taj Mahal started in the first place. There was no Black Taj Mahal. The legendary Black Taj Mahal is actually the reflection of Taj Mahal itself, as seen on the surface of the murky waters of Yamuna River.

Winchester Mystery House, San Jose

Folks!

Do you know that there is a huge Victorian mansion personally designed by Sarah L. Winchester (Winchester rifle heiress) and built under her personal supervision somewhere in San Jose?

Indeed we have folks and her Victorian mansion is simply out of this world! Check out the following amazing facts about her huge mansion:

  • Boasts of having 160 rooms
  • Costs $5,500,000 back then in 1920s. Imagine what the cost would be like today!
  • Construction started in 1884 and ended in 1922. That’s 38 years!
  • Prior to the famous 1906 Californian earthquake, it is a 7 storey Victorian mansion and it is now reduced to 4!
  • Have 2 basements!
  • 1,257 frames of windows!
  • Hundreds of doorways!
  • 40 bedrooms!
  • And bla bla bla…
Is that a castle fit for queens and kings or a simple home for a small American family?

What is really strange is that such a big mansion did not have any blueprints. Locals were proud to mention that the huge mansion was built on paper sketches sketched by Sarah L. Winchester herself. That’s pretty amazing!

If you are thinking of visiting, let me warn you that the huge mansion was said to be haunted by the ghosts of people killed by Winchester rifles. So, how many ghosts are we talking here then? Thousands or millions? Yikes!! I’m outta here!

Mystery Spot, Santa Cruz

Folks!

If you are fascinated and intrigued by that mysterious place known as Oregon Vortex, I’m sure that you will love this other equally mysterious place known as The Mystery Spot which is located somewhere in Santa Cruz, California.

Just like Oregon Vortex, The Mystery Spot (it is actually a circular area with more less 150 feet or 46 meters in diameter) has amazed and stunned thousands of visitors from all around the world. The Mystery Spot also caused the laws of physics and gravity to turn upside down very much like Oregon Vortex. This mysterious location was discovered way back in 1939 by some surveyors and it was opened to the public a year later.

Check out the following statement made by Mr. Prather (the first owner of The Mystery Spot):

"Originally, we wanted to get the level ground below here for a summer home or mountain cabin, but the gentleman we were buying it from would not sell the level ground unless we purchased a strip across the entire south end of his property, including this hillside.

Finally, we bought the entire piece, mainly to get the level ground, and as we were helping the surveyor along the north line, we noted the compass to vary a small amount on the transit and spoke to him about it at that time. He said we might get that variation along a barbed wire fence or some mineral in the ground and let it pass at that.

On thinking it over later, there was no barbed wire fence near where we were at the time, and as far as we knew, no excessive mineral in this ground; so we took our own small hand compass and went up over the north line to try and check on it. The variation there was not great enough that we could tell anything about it with the point of the hill and through the brush.

On returning, we came down the little canyon or draw above here. In so doing felt very light headed or top heavy, felt like something trying to force us right off the hill. We sat down for a while to try and overcome that feeling. While sitting there we happened to look at the compass again. There, the compass had varied enough that we needed nothing to compare it with to tell that it was not correct.

We began to check from that, and we found the more checked the more we found, until we found we had this spot of ground here. About one hundred fifty feet in diameter, that so far, we have not found any instrument absolutely correct over. A portable radio will play any place over it, but with very little variation, being the nearest correct that we have found."

Mysterious indeed! Perhaps the following videos will give you folks a better picture of this mysterious spot.

Magic Kingdom: Orlando's Walt Disney World Resort - The best photo spot

I’m thinking of revisiting Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort Magic Kingdom in the next few months and have been looking at some of latest photos and pictures taken by visitors to this world renowned tourist attraction in Florida for the last few weeks. I got my own Disney photo collections of course but prefer to look at others and see if I have missed any great Disney photo spots in the past.

Well yeah, I found a few new great Disney photo spots alright but what surprises me most is the fact that many people failed to take their photos at Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort Magic Kingdom’s best photo spot. You know, the spot is somewhere at the small roundabout where we have Walt Disney’s statue right in the middle. That spot is actually reserved for the disables; they will get that spot for themselves whenever Walt Disney World Resort shows off their street parades.

The photo spot mentioned earlier is best for portraits especially if you are visiting with the whole family. I really like the idea of having Walt Disney’s statue and the enchanting Magic Kingdom Castle in the photo background. As matter of fact, millions of other visitors feel the same way too!

Well folks, just make sure that you will not miss Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort Magic Kingdom’s top photo spot when you are there.

Riga, Latvia - A great Baltic holiday destination

I have my eyes on Riga, Latvia after seeing how it looks like on television; it was nicely highlighted in one of The Amazing Race episodes if I’m not mistaken. Riga is the capital city of Latvia, a nice little country located in the Northern Europe region. Its weather is kind of humid and continental, obviously influenced by the Baltic Sea. Latvia would be quite wet in August; perhaps August is not the best month to visit Latvia. I don’t know about you but I’m not that fond of wet environments.

I’m not that good in picturing places with words so I will let the following video do it for me. Believe me, Riga is very enchanting!

If you like what you just saw just now, perhaps you should seriously consider paying Riga a visit in the near future. If you need more visit Riga information, just follow the link that I have provided earlier. It should leads you straight to BestRentInRiga Dot Com, a simple but convenient site that should also helps you find rentals in Riga.

Riga is indeed a very nice place to visit but since Latvia is a very small country, there’s not that many interesting places to visit or things to do while you are there. A short term stay in Riga is what I would recommend to anyone who wants to visit Riga at the moment.

Using Thailand As Your Travel Hub in Southeast Asia

Sooner or later, you have to visit Southeast Asia if you enjoy seeing the world. There are simply too many unique landmarks and fascinating cultural aspect to not do so. When you go, you may find getting about a bit difficult, so focus on Thailand as your hub.

Asia is a fascinating area that has to be seen to be believed. From the spires of Angkor Wat to the lightening shows off the coast of Sihanoukville in Cambodia, there is something for everyone. To top the area off as a top destination, a currency problem in the late 1990s has resulted in Southeast Asia being a very cheap trip. Yes, even with the dollar being beaten up.

There is only one hang up when it comes to traveling in this area. Simply put, it is difficult to get from here to there. The quality, size and frequency of the transportation systems in the countries varies fairly dramatically. Consider the contrast between two countries sharing a long border - Thailand and Cambodia.

Thailand has its act together. There is plenty of bus, tram and train service in the bustling city of Bangkok. You can also take overnight trains from the city to most destinations in the country. If you have a few bucks to spare, you can usually fly from the city to larger destination in the country, such as Chang Mai, for $40 to $80. When you are ready to head to another country in the region, international flights out of Bangkok are also plentiful and cheap.

Cambodia is in sharp contrast to Thailand. For the most part, the use of the term "roads" is debatable. Things are rough. Much of the northern area of the country is very difficult to access. In fact, one of the more popular ways to get around the country when possible is by ferry. It is highly recommended that you use this mode of transportation when heading to Angkor Wat or your kidneys and back will be an absolute mess. Flying around Cambodia domestically is nearly impossible and international flights are infrequent and really expensive.

Lest you think I am unfairly criticizing Cambodia, it should be noted there is a distinct reason for the infrastructure problems in the country. The Khmer Rouge, of course. This group led by Pol Pot tried to revert the country to an agricultural society. Besides killing nearly a third of the population, the infrastructure took a beating.

This contrast may seem extreme, but it can be found in other countries. Laos is wonderful, but very rural. Indonesia is cheaper than even Cambodia and Thailand, but travel within the country can be physically tough. The contrast go on and on.

Should you travel to Southeast Asia, you are going to need a place to make your base. Thailand is an excellent choice based on my trips to the region. It is very inexpensive, yet the infrastructure is excellent. It simply makes a great place to launch any exploration of the region.

John Grimes writes about travel topics for AllTerrainco.com - makers of natural products for traveling such as insect repellent to keep the mosquitoes off of you while in Southeast Asia.

Oregon Vortex - More perplexing videos!

I was really surprised when I found that about 7% of this blog’s visitors were interested in the mysterious spot known as Oregon Vortex that I have covered in one of my old posts. I would never have known about it if not for Google Analytics. Thanks Google!

In my last post about this subject, I only have one measly video about this mysterious place where things that happened there don’t seem to make any sense at all. As a treat, today I’m going to provide you folks with a few more new videos about Oregon Vortex. Enjoy!

New readers to this blog should follow this link to know more about the location, background and history of the mysterious Oregon Vortex.

Having bad credit ratings doesn’t mean that you cannot go on a vacation!

The American economy is in deep shit and so are the American people. Many have been slapped with poor or bad credit ratings due to their failure to monitor their existing loans properly. Such problem is not only common in the United States alone; people in other parts of the world are facing similar problems too!

It is sad to think that people burdened with bad credit ratings like some of those Americans have to forget about their vacation plans simply because they did not have the financial means to do so. They could not use their credit cards or existing loans to finance their vacation plans. It is indeed very sad.

Well, perhaps such people can try to seek bad credit loans from certain financial institutions in the United States. The link that I have provided earlier provides hope to those who having bad credit ratings and histories. Who knows, some of the resources found there might be able to help you to take a break and enjoy life vacationing somewhere. :-)
