Orlando, Florida – 5 other interesting places to see in Orlando

Like what I have said in my previous posts, I have been to Orlando, Florida many times but I spent most of my time there by visiting theme parks. Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando were two of favorite haunts and I believe that I will never grow tired of them. Both theme parks seem to have more and more new attractions each year!

To be fair, Orlando has lots of other interesting places and attractions. Orlando has more than just theme parks, you know. WatchMojo Dot Com has even compiled a great list of 5 alternative places that you can visit while you are in Orlando:
  1. Kennedy Space Center
  2. Fantasy of Flight
  3. Holy Land Experience
  4. Gatorland
  5. Richard Petty Driving Experience

Please watch the following video if you want to know what those places mentioned earlier was all about. Enjoy!

Swim with cute dolphins at SeaWorld Orlando

I have been to Orlando a few times and spent most of time at Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort.

A few friends of mine had asked me the following question a couple of times, why didn’t I take the opportunity to visit SeaWorld which is only a few minutes drive from Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort?

Okay, let me give you my reasons today:

  • SeaWorld is just too expensive!
  • SeaWorld attractions are quite limited.

I do admit that SeaWorld attractions are out of this world but I can have more fun over at Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort. I do feel that I got my money’s worth at those world renowned theme parks.

I love swimming and snorkeling but I don’t feel comfortable doing them in crowded areas such as SeaWorld. I have seen some SeaWorld videos and I can see that SeaWorld is packed like sardines, how on earth can we enjoy swimming with those cute dolphins in the first place?

Dubai, UAE – Tourist trap?

Visit Dubai?

Oh no… Not me! I have heard too many sad stories from friends who have been to Dubai. Many came back telling me that they had ‘lost’ lots of money there because of their wild shopping sprees. Yes, luxury goods are quite cheap there and those with money will find it hard to avoid spending cash on shopping. They also mentioned that hotel rates and other public facilities such as taxis are quite expensive!

Those kinds of feedbacks are enough to convince me that Dubai sounds more like a tourist trap and I hate to visit such places. You have been warned but if you still insist on visiting Dubai, the following video might interest you. Enjoy!

Canberra, Australia

Folks, have you ever been to Canberra, Australia?

I have never been to Australia. Don’t know why, perhaps it’s because I didn’t really know what Australia could really offer to frequent travelers like me. Thanks to great travel guide videos such as the one shown down below, nowadays I could learn a little bit more about Australian cities such as Canberra. Canberra looks great on video but I’m still skeptical. I still prefer UK and European destinations though. :-)

Well, if you have any thoughts of visiting Canberra, Australia; I’m sure you will enjoy this video. Have fun!

South Miami Beach, Florida – Better watch pelicans than girls in bikinis

Yeah… Yeah…

You folks only know one thing when it comes to Miami Beach, Florida; lots of girls in bikinis. :-)

Sorry folks, I’m not that kind of guy. I don’t find watching girls in bikinis as fun. I’m no American. I’m a Malaysian still hanging on with our Eastern values and watching girls in bikinis is not our thing. Sure, it is tempting alright but we can live without it just fine. :-)

Just like what WatchMojo Dot Com has highlighted in the following video, I would rather spend my time watching exotic birds over at the Everglades National Park, Florida. Take a look at the last video that I have provided down below and you will see why. It is too bad that I did not have the opportunity to visit Everglades National Park. I have been to Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Orlando and of course Miami but time was not on my side then and I could not make any plans to go and visit Everglades National Park. Perhaps one day I will get the opportunity.

Florence, Italy – Top 5 Attractions

Florence, Italy is often considered as the birthplace of Italian Renaissance. Florence is also famous for its magnificent Renaissance art and architecture, once it was even known as the Athens of the Middle Ages. It is interesting to take note here that the ‘Historic Centre of Florence’ was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1982.

I do know that Florence, Italy has plenty of attractions but I suppose what the following video is trying to say is that you must not miss the following top 5 attractions if you have plans to visit Florence, Italy one day:
  1. Galeria dell'Academia
  2. Museo dell'Opificio delle Pietre Dure
  3. Antico Setificio Fiorentino S.P.A
  4. Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo)
  5. Piazza di San Lorenzo

Miami Beach, Florida – Too hot for me!

You know something folks…

If there is one place that I found not so wonderful to visit, it will be Miami Beach, Florida. I have been to Miami Beach once and sorry to say that I regretted it! :-(

It is too hot for people like me and the sun is scorching. You can feel that your skin got burned under the hot sun; I don’t think that the best sun lotions that money can buy can even protect you from the damaging heat and sun rays. There are too many people on weekends and you can hardly find a good spot to relax. Besides, I found that Miami Beach is filled with people with binoculars, zooming in on girls as if they have nothing better to do. :-(

Sorry, Miami Beach, Florida is not for me. I can’t understand why some people say that it is a great location for vacations.

The story & history behind St. Patrick’s Day

Well folks…

You have heard much about St. Patrick’s Day. You have seen a lot of photos, videos and buzz on St. Patrick’s Day. But do you really know the history behind St. Patrick’s Day in the first place?

Trust me; it doesn’t have anything to do with beer-drinking. I don’t know what those Irish people and their pints of beers have been telling you but the following video should provide with you with the truth. Enjoy!

Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights Vacations?

Yeah, why not?

Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights is one of the wonders of the natural world and I’m tired of seeing them on photos and videos. I would love to see them with own eyes one day and I will make sure that I bring my family along. This requires a lot of planning though since it requires long-haul travelling (if you are traveling from Malaysia) to northern parts of northern countries.

If you are interested in gazing at Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights with your eyes like I do, do consult your travel agency first. It would be wise to go in a big group; you might get bored if you do not have company out there in the open.

Lazio, Italy – Top 5 Attractions

Found a very interesting video clip about Lazio, Italy and since I’m a bit lazy today, I will feature it in this post.

Honestly speaking, I have never been to Italy but I do know that Lazio is a mass region of central Italy. I still remember my geography, you know. :-) Took a peek at the map just now and found that Lazio is bordered by Tuscany, Umbria, Abruzzo, Marche, Molise, Campania and of course Tyrrhenian Sea. I can’t quite describe Lazio’s weather since I have never been there before and I don’t want to simply quote and believe what other people had said about Lazio’s weather. If you have been there before, do give me a hint.

Let’s go back to the video now. The video highlights 5 top attractions in Lazio and I have listed them down below for you folks out there:
  1. Hotel Niccolò V Delle Terme Dei Papi
  2. Castelli Romani (lots of vineyards)
  3. Fiuggi Spa
  4. Lake of Bolsena/Lago di Bolsena (lots of water sports activities)
  5. Ponza Island (sports fishing)

I leave you folks now with the video down below. Enjoy!

Ireland's St. Patrick’s Day Parade – Best photo/video spots

Sure…

You have lots of great photo or video spots to take pictures or videos of Ireland’s world famous St. Patrick’s Day Parade on the streets of Dublin. Just make sure that you are standing anywhere on either sides of the street where the parade normally goes through (refer to the following map) with your cameras or video cams ready.

St. Patrick's Day Parade route

Unfortunately as I have discovered in the past, there were simply too many people down the streets and you could not really capture all those colorful moments the way you planned it in the first place. You might accidentally take photos or videos of people walking or running right in front of you! Really, it spoils everything.

I’ll give you folks a good tip today. If you want to capture St. Patrick’s Day Parade on cameras or video cams without any disturbance, rent hotel rooms that have balconies overlooking the street parade. You have to do this fast because most photographers, journalists and even television crews do this sort of stunt on St. Patrick’s Day Parade. You can bet that Dublin hotel rooms with great view on the street parade will be fully booked on that day. Find and rent hotel rooms at least a few weeks before the parade just to be safe. You can then sit down, prime your cameras or video cams, take wonderful pictures or videos of St. Patrick’s Day Parade and show it off to friends and colleagues. :-)

Good luck!

St. Patrick’s Festival 2008 – Dublin, Ireland

Folks!

It is March 2008 and Ireland is poised to celebrate their national holiday, St. Patrick’s Day. Irish folks all over the world will hop from one party to another to celebrate their big day.

Ireland of course will hold the biggest party of all and St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in huge scale over there turning it into a well known international festival known as the grand St. Patrick’s Festival. St. Patrick’s Festival is held every year and this year from March 13th to March 17th, Ireland will have lots of music, street theatre, family carnivals, comedy, street performances, dance, a treasure hunt and night-spectacles. The main event would be their world famous St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Magnificent!

Dublin has always been one my favorite vacation spots and I have seen St. Patrick’s Day Parade before. It was fun but I do wonder why they got to have everything mostly in green. The scene looks kind of weird for tourists like me. Take a look at the following videos featuring past St. Patrick’s Day Parades and see for your own eyes. :-)

Green or otherwise, I do have lots of sweet memories in Dublin, Ireland. It is a nice little city full with nice friendly people. I can’t find of any better way to get to know them other than by joining them in their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. You should visit Dublin at this time of the year!

Disneyland Resort, Paris 15th Anniversary – Disney’s Once Upon A Dream Parade

Disneyland Park: Disneyland Resort, Paris

Disneyland Resort Paris at the moment has two parks, Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. If I’m not mistaken, they will have more parks in store in the near future but those two parks mentioned earlier are more than enough for visitors at the moment.

Disneyland Park in Paris is quite similar with Orlando’s Magic Kingdom and its present attractions. It should be since they’re from the same franchise. I only wish that Disneyland theme parks in Paris would adopt complete French themes of their own since it is located in France. It is a bit strange and out of place to see American themes in Europe, if you know what I mean.

Back to Disneyland Park, it has five super fun lands:

  • Main Street USA
  • Fantasyland
  • Frontierland
  • Adventureland &
  • Discoveryland

Five super fun lands in cool Paris weather! Great for families and kids hoping to have lots of fun outdoors! I wish I could be a kid again; I would have pestered my parent to bring me here one day. :-)

This is going to be a very tall order for me but I will try to cover each one of Disneyland Park’s fun lands in the future. In the meantime, have fun admiring the following great videos!

Laguna, Maldives - Paradise on Earth!

I have to make one thing clear today. Maldives has more than one paradise island. As matter of fact, Maldives has a chain of 1190 small coral islands that can be grouped under 26 atolls and all of them are majestic tropical paradise islands!

In my previous post, I talked about the tropical paradise wonders of Biyadoo, Maldives. As for today, let’s take a look Laguna. Laguna is another wonderful tropical paradise island (privately owned by Laguna Beach Resort?) situated in Maldives’s South Male’ Atoll.

The locals are fond of calling Laguna as the blue (blue sea) and gold (golden sandy beaches) of the horizon. Its shallow lagoon enables the locals and visitors there to enjoy superb snorkeling and scuba diving activities. Just like Biyadoo, Laguna is also a great place for holidaymakers and honeymooners. Simply magical!

Monte-Carlo Casino, Monaco - The most beautiful casino in the world?

I don’t know folks but a lot of people sure see it that way.

The casino was built in 1878 by the legendary Charles Garnier, the great architect of Paris’s opera house. The casino’s atrium is a marvel. It is paved in marbles and surrounded by 28 Ionic columns in onyx. The atrium will lead visitors to the grand auditorium of the opera known as ‘Salle Garnier’. This is another wonderful marvel too. It is decorated in gold and red, rich with bas-reliefs, frescoes and of course sculptures. You have to be there and see it with your own eyes to enjoy its lavish beauty. No words can describe it!

Let’s not talk about its gaming rooms, shall we. Gambling and casinos is not my thing. I would rather spend my time at the casino admiring its architectural beauty and relax myself in the neighboring beautiful gardens and terraces, located just opposite the casino.

Oh well, I can only dream of being there at the moment. For the time being, I can only see how this wonderful place looks like through videos such as the ones provided down below. Hope you will enjoy it too!
